About Bishop Ravichandran

Rt. Rev. A. Paul Francis Ravichandran serves as the Bishop of the CSI Madras Diocese, one of the most historic and influential dioceses of the Church of South India. With over three decades of pastoral ministry, he is widely known for his compassionate leadership, deep spiritual insight, and unwavering commitment to the mission of the Church.

Born on March 18, 1965, and shaped by a strong foundation of faith and service, Bishop Paul pursued his academic studies in English Literature at Madras Christian College before completing his theological training at United Theological College, Bangalore. He was ordained as a Presbyter in 1994, beginning a ministry journey marked by dedication, humility, and a genuine love for people.

Over the years, he has served in numerous congregations across the Madras Diocese, faithfully shepherding communities and nurturing spiritual growth. His leadership extends beyond parish ministry—he has played key roles as Director of the CSI Synod Youth Department, where he championed youth empowerment, and as Bishop's Chaplain, where he contributed significantly to diocesan life and administration. His early work as Coordinator of the New Jerusalem Garden Retreat Centre reflects his heart for spiritual renewal and formation.

Today, Bishop Paul's influence reaches far beyond the diocese. He serves as President of the National Missionary Society and is a member of the Executive Committee of the World Communion of Reformed Churches, engaging actively in global mission and ecumenical leadership.

At the heart of his ministry is a deep concern for people—especially the marginalized—and a passion to see lives transformed through faith in Christ. Known for his ability to connect with diverse audiences, he is a compelling speaker who brings together biblical depth, practical wisdom, and a pastor's heart.

He is supported in ministry by his wife, Rev. Indra Paul, a pioneering woman presbyter in the CSI Madras Diocese, and together they model a life of faith, service, and partnership. They are blessed with two children who are established in their respective professional fields.
